Congratulations, you’ve recorded your name on NameShouts! Now, you have the option to make your recording publicly available.
Remember, a recording of your voice pronouncing your name should be considered sensitive data. You should ONLY share this through trustworthy channels.
To set up your public recording link, click through to the My Recording tab under My Account.
Make sure you’ve actually recorded your own pronunciation of your name. You can read about how to do that here.
Click “Share Recording” to continue. You’ll see a screen that looks like this.
Make sure to read the warning below before clicking “Enable.” This will generate a link that you can share!
You can immediately copy this link and share it where you want. Or, you can click “Next” to see a couple pre-written options for your favorite social media platforms or email.
Now that you've enabled your name recording to be shared, you can add your profile photo, preferred pronouns, and phonetic respelling on the "My Recording" page. Click Save once you've set these features up to save all of this to your recording link.
Finally, once you've set everything up, you can start sharing your name link.
Here's what a fully set up link will look like:
Un-sharing your name recording:
If, for any reason, you would like to make your name recording unavailable, you can just hit disable at any time.
This will pull your recording from the public link, which means no one will be able to access it anymore. You can always hit enable to turn the link back on.
Using your recording:
One great way to use your recording is in an email signature. This will let anyone you communicate with have access to a recording of your name.
Here’s an example of how to create an email signature. You can embed the link into your name or a separate line:
Head Auror, Ministry of Magic
